Shorewood getting all Hood

As with most nights in a bar, I found myself standing at the yoooo-rye-nal (that's british for pee pee place) in Stonefly Brewery and check this out: 1st time I ever saw a SHOREWOOD tag. What business does Shorewood have in the tagging world? Are we hard all of a sudden? Our cross walks are all nice and brick paved son! Yo, tell your girl we gots seasonal snowflakes all up on our lightposts! Don't even think about parking overnight cos you'll catch that ticket bitchslap! What! Look at how lame of a tag this is, like the graffiti artist's hand was rebelling against the message it was receiving from his brain. "Am I really tagging SHOREWOOD?" In the small frame of this photo, you can see bits of ambitious tags all around. And here we have boring ass, black ink, ALL CAPS Shorewood. But wait, the H is crossed out! Oh damn! Pull down the shades, it's about to get real up in S#OREWOOD. Really real.

Oh yeah, we saw DJ Yoda and it was a true lesson in the pure fun of being a basement DJ and rocking a crowd. No lasers or bowel loosening euro-bass beats or chicks with push up weirdness and spray-on tan stained tank tops (although I am not always opposed to that). It was the perfect mix of crappy lighting cutting cigarette smoke, tats n beards (the riverwest flag), cans of beer, girls dancing all freaky and real music mixed from the heart. Really real.

5pm: Pezzettino rocks out a special acoustic set. She'll need people to help stomp and clap and become her on-the-spot rhythm section so come to represent!

Art Imitating Life

Weird day. I was grabbing lunch for the salon at Beans n Barley and parked at the Library because the Beans lot was rocking the East Side Farmers Market. Lots of corn and tomatoes, soap and candles, chuck taylors and beards.

Anyway, we got that Warhol thing in town so I've been thinking about re-reading his diaries which have his famous quotes like "15minutes of fame" and his whole pop culture/does life imitate art essay.

I did my gangsta stroll into the library and no, they didn't have it. Maybe I should just go buy it at the museum or stop at Boswell and browse around after work? But dammit I need to save up for more shampoo and towels and salon things. Hmmmm.

Then Warhol, in some stroke of the divine and bizarre, decided for me.

in a great wave of technological upgrades and neck slaps at Establishment Productions, we are in the process of transferring our library from DVDs on shelves to mp4/youtube-able files to share. Here is the short film music video for GOD KNOWS YOUR LONELY SOUL by UNKLE feat Richard Ashcroft from The Verve.

The film was made as part of the Slamdance Film Festival's $99 Specials where 9 filmmakers were given 99 days and $99 to make a film. This is what a long morning with a chill actress and filming during down time on corporate road trips can do for ya....big ups to Carly Flynn on the hair, make-up and overall on-the-set dopeness. Lafayette Street NYC apartment holler. PS: For some reason, the film starts at :15sec. ok, bye..........

The Big Perms: Shorewood Softball Game #1

The Establishment Salon softball team, THE BIG PERMS took to the field at Shorewood HS Monday night with steely determination to, ummmmm, to be steely determined. Despite losing 13-0 to Harry's Bar and Grill (although we didnt recognize anyone from Harrys...weird), the team is set to bounce back Monday May 11 @ 7pm when they meet Alterra. It's so on, it's almost off. Check out the pics below:

First McLovin, Now This!

Annie is no stranger to the limelight. She's met Hanson numerous times, shared a slow-dance with McLovin from Superbad right here in our salon (see below) and yesterday, Annie was interviewed by the greatest reporter in Milwaukee history / Annie's client, George Mallet, on TMJ 4 News as a local Jonas Brothers expert. What can't she do!?

That's not rhetorical people, here's a quick look at what she can't do: levitate, play the guitar, self-detonate, accelerate healing, mind control and/or telekinesis, breathe underwater, poach eggs, speak German, shoot 4 under at Augusta, bow hunt on a unicycle, predict the future, become invisible, draw kintetic energy and turn it into physical blasts. Other than that, what can't she do!?!
