In the summer of 1977, I was kickin it in my momma's belly, just as shocked as you were about Elvis. Here's what Milwaukee was up to. Note the US Bank Building as the only building above 3 stories in downtown. Also, peep the rising smoke from the Brady Street Festival shots. Ha. Crazy East Side n Riverwest kids and their rainbow flavored cigarettes!

HEY MILWAUKEE: Wanna Film Your World For A Night? + Looking for Photos and Film Footage from Milwaukee
I am pulling together a short film where I need tons and tons of Milwaukee-based photos and film footage that will be the foundation of the film. NOTE:***Sound doesn't matter - just images, cool angles, shots, movement - your world!! I don't want to give away the flow or premise of the film so if you have footage and want to recycle it and contribute to this project - high five! - and email me for the full story and plan for this short film. I am creating this film initially to submit to the Milwaukee Film Fest and then subsequent festivals....yes, you will get credit! :)
So, two things here:
1) I have a nifty little FLIP camera to lend you to film you (although its probably against my better judgement - ha) and your crazy little night or day out in Milwaukee. Or rock your own business and hand me a tape. Sound doesn't matter - just images, cool angles, shots, movement - your world!!
2) I am looking for cool, Milwaukee based film clips or still images. Black and white or color - doesn't matter. The weirder the footage, the better. Things like:
- basement shows
- nights out
- DJs and bars
- kickin it with friends
- city scapes
- skate films
- scratchy old super 8mm from your momma's attic
- random shots around your school or coffee shop or bar or where ever you kick it.
- your crap on Facebook or Flickr - just send me the link to the photo album!
Please reply here as a comment, call me at

I hope to have everything pulled together by Fri May 29th - hope to hear from you soon!

My Date With Windex + CW Green Your World Wrap Up
I recently finished a national contest hosted by the CW Network and SC Johnson called GREEN YOUR WORLD where 4 filmmakers were picked to submit weekly vlogs for an entire month about eco-initiatives going on in their city. I'm grateful I had the chance to participate in this contest to show how progressive, green, and eco-cool Milwaukee really can be.
The other vloggers (video blogs) chose different ways to interpret the assignment but I chose to dive straight into the whats-up-now green activity in Milwaukee. Films 1-4 were a bit of green-investigative journalism around Milwaukee ranging from reports on Urban Farms and Green Business to Recycling to Green Engineering at MSOE. Film #5, which was optional, was just a fun way to end the series. I'm not sure if it will be posted on the contest website so I'll just post it here and below in the YouTube box right down there. Holler.
Below the film are links to press we received which I feel is important because it shows how eager media outlets are for forward thinking, green news. And to have a chance to rep Milwaukee rocks! There are also links to learn more about the contest. The soundtrack to the film is an instrumental version of ROLLING STONE POSTER by SAM WINTERS. Peep his work here and here.
Also, the contest was sponsored by Wisconsin's own SC Johnson so big up to them. Check how GREEN they are here.

Jane Says: I Seriously Can't Handle This Right Now
So here's the dealy: Jane's Addiction are touring with Nine Inch Nails this summer on the NINJA tour. Get it? NIN. JA. NINJA. Thing is, Jane's are one of those tear-up-the-underground-and-break-up-before-your-success bands so the four of them in the same room, let alone performing again is pretty awesome. In late 2008, they decided to give it a test run so they bought out little Mexican restaurants around downtown LA to play old-school, word-of-mouth gigs. I musta went well because on Feb 16th, Jane's played their first proper gig at the Echoplex in LA which brings us to this post. I can't handle this. Peep this video and if you CAN handle this, check your pulse and cancel your internet service now. Now!
There are more Jane's Addiction videos from the Echoplex at Pitchfork TV
